This application allows you to modify documents, such as word and excel, right from your phone. The BlackBerry Storm is one of the first touch screen phones to utilized SurePress technology. This technology forces users to click on the screen, making for a more realistic experience. For example, when you are typing on the keyboard, you actually have to click in order for the letter to type; this is a much more realistic experience than just tapping your fingertip on the key.
The LCD screen, on the Storm, is a 3.25-inch TFT display with a 480 x 360 pixel resolution. Additionally, the screen supports up to 65,000 colors. The combination of these features gives consumers one of the grandest LCD screens on a smart phone!
The BlackBerry Storm has an accelerometer, which allows the display to switch from portrait to landscape based on how the phone is being held. Consumers also have the option to adjust backlight settings, font size, and font type. All of which provide users with a personalized experience.
The only way to access a keyboard on this phone, is via the LCD screen. Whether you like the QWERTY or SureType keyboards, you have access to both! When the phone is in portrait mode, you will use the SureType keyboard, and in landscape mode the QWERTY keyboard.
They keyboards have to fit within the diameter of the screen. Even though the LCD display is a good size, it is not necessarily adequate for a keyboard. Having said this, the keyboards are a bit difficult to use, especially if you have bigger hands.
Even thought the Storm is a bit wider than the average smart phone, it still fits comfortably in the palm of your hand. It weighs in around 5.5 ounces, making it an average weight.
Performance, on the Storm, is a bit disappointing. There is some severe lag time with application use, internet browsing, instant message, and just overall functionality. Firmware updates have boosted performance just a bit, but not quite enough. On the other hand, battery performance is above par. On average, you will have about six hours of talk time and 15 days on standby time.
